A WOMAN was threatened at knifepoint after a gang of burglars broke into her home and demanded she hand over cash.

The four unknown men wearing face coverings entered the property on Fleetwood Walk in Runcorn shortly after midnight last Tuesday, July 7.

One of them – who was wearing a plain black hoodie, grey combat trousers and white trainers – threatened the occupant with a knife while another, who spoke with a Liverpool accent and was wearing a black jacket and white t-shirt, ordered her to give them money.

He is also described as having a ‘gaunt’ face, broad shoulders and fair hair.

Meanwhile, the other two – who were wearing all black clothing – conducted an ‘untidy search’ of the address before all four left.

It is believed that they stole one item from the property, but no further details have been given on what this was.

All of the offenders are described as being white, around 30 to 40 years old and over 6ft tall.

Cheshire Police’s enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and officers have appealed for information from member of the public.

Detective constable Dan Williams, of Runcorn CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident that has understandably left the victim extremely shaken up.

“I would like to reassure residents that this is believed to be an isolated incident, and we are doing everything we can to establish the identities of the offenders and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing, and we are hoping that members of the public will aid our investigation by coming forward with relevant information or footage concerning the aggravated burglary.

“Perhaps you were in the area that night and saw the offenders, either before they entered the property or as they were fleeing the scene.

“Or maybe you have CCTV or dashcam footage of the men, or believe that you may know who they are.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number IML748470, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
