A FIRE ripped through an industrial unit, burning about 40 tonnes of waste.

Crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident at a unit off Yapton Road in Yapton last night at about 8pm.

Firefighters from Arundel, Littlehampton and Bognor Regis tackled the blaze for three and a half hours, and dramatic photos from the scene show smoke pouring out of the building.

The Argus:

Crews divided up the burning waste to bring the fire under control, and left the scene just after 11.30pm.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Joint Fire Control received a call to a fire in an industrial unit off Yapton Lane in Yapton at 8.04pm on Tuesday.
