A POLICE helicopter was launched in Newport after a driver failed to stop for police.
Yesterday, at approximately 8.55pm, the driver of a BMW M4340i "failed to stop for officers" near Tredegar Park on Cardiff Road.
An area search was then conducted , which including the scrambling of a police helicopter.
The vehicle in question was found abandoned two miles away on Fort View in Bassaleg, just off Laurel Road, at approximately 9.20pm.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, a force spokeswoman said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 474 17/05/20.
It is the second time a police helicopter has been launched in the area in the space of a week.
On May 12, a helicopter hovered over the skies after an alleged assault in the Church Crescent area of Bassaleg.

On yesterday's incident, a spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: "A BMW M340i failed to stop for officers near Tredegar Park on Cardiff Road, Newport at approximately 8.55pm yesterday evening, 17th May.
"An area search was conducted and the vehicle was found abandoned on Fort View in Bassaleg at approximately 9.20pm.
"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 474 17/05/20."
