A SPECIAL message has been installed on the pavement outside a hospital to thank the NHS heroes working during the coronavirus pandemic.

The tribute has been painted near the front entrance of Braintree Community Hospital by Gosfield-based firm, D Line Markings.

The company specialises in painting roads and has been commissioned by local authorities in East Anglia to paint tribute messages to the NHS outside a number of hospitals, including Peterborough and Addenbrookes in Cambridge.

But director Christian Dysinski wanted to install a colourful tribute outside his own local hospital and swiftly set about the doing the same for Braintree.

He said: "We first asked permission last Wednesday so it has been a quick turn around.

"My wife Jade works in the domestics department at the hospital so I really wanted to make sure we could get something outside there too.

"We were planning to do it later in the week but with rain coming on Tuesday, we had to get back from doing the tributes in Cambridge and Peterborough on Monday evening to make sure we could do it outside Braintree.

"There have been quite a few tributes being painted on roads and buildings so it's great to jump on the bandwagon and do something a bit more local."

The Dysinski family's close connections to Braintree Community Hospital has also seen Christian's children Lexie, 12, and Kaleb, nine, dedicate the past few weeks to making thank you posters for NHS staff.

The posters are now proudly displayed inside some of the wards at the hospital and helping to brighten the mood among staff and patients.

It comes as figures released by NHS England show there have been three Covid-19 related deaths at the hospital since the pandemic began.

Christian added: "It's great to be able to do things like this because it reminds people of everything the NHS is doing.

"They are putting their own lives at risk to help others and it's important to show how grateful we are for what they are doing.

"The response to the markings outside other hospitals has been really good so we're hoping it'll have the same impact here."
