A DECISION over whether to approve plans for a new supermarket could be delayed until the summer.
Aldi is seeking planning permission to construct a new store off Millennium Way in Braintree.
Blueprints for the scheme were submitted last summer and bosses had hoped a decision would be made in the spring.
But Highways England has asked Braintree Council to delay a verdict until August 20 due to concerns about the impact the new shop could have on traffic in the area.
In their response to the plans, road bosses say they still had a number of questions which needed to be answered.
Concerns about the impact of increased traffic in the area have also been raised by Cressing Parish Council.
It is hoped new slip roads directly linking Millennium Way with the A120 will help to address some concerns about the new shop.
Essex County Council is awaiting final approval for the slip roads before building work can get underway.
