Progress is finally being made over a long-awaited expansion of a Witham supermarket as plans are given the green light.
Morrisons on Braintree Road, Witham have received planning permission to expand the store after plans were altered.
The plans include an extension to the store, a refurbished customer cafe, bicycle racks and adjustments to the existing car park.
Plans also include a new tower as part of the extension to create a focal point for customers so show where the entrance is.
Braintree council said: "The development proposed is entirely appropriate to and in scale with the site upon which it is located.
"It will therefore preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the surrounding area.
"The proposal will have no effect on the surrounding ecology of the area.
"The proposed extension will provide the circulation space, choice of goods, and overall quality of offer that customers typically expect from within a modern bulk convenience store."
