Bosses have said that the a mysterious body of water has been caused by rainfall, despite it not moving for several months.

A body of water on Flitch Way, off Kenworthy Road in Braintree has been stagnant for several months, blocking a large section of the footpath.

Despite several reports from residents, Anglian Water believe it must be standing water from rainfall.

Anglian water bosses don't believe it to be from their asset's as they have found no chlorine in the water and confirmed they have no pipes in the area.

A spokesperson said: "We don't believe it to be from our asset's. It has been reported to us a few times ans we have investigated but found no chlorine in the water on Flitch Way.

"We don't have any pipes in Flitch Way so it may be standing water from rainfall if there isn't anywhere for it to escape to."

Flitch Way runs for 15 miles from Braintree Station to Start Hill near Bishops Stortford,it is frequently used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders and forms part of the Nation Cycle Network Route 16.
