A teenager is in police custody following an investigation into bike thefts in Witham.

Pc Crow and Pc Thorne have been investigating bike thefts which have occurred in Witham.

They have been taking statements, viewing CCTV and gathering evidence.

As a result, Braintree Community Policing Team arrested an 18-year-old man who is currently in custody and will be interviewed later today (March 6).

Pc Bailey has also been working to obtain a Criminal Behaviour Order on a person who is causing Anti-Social Behaviour.

In a post on Facebook, Essex Police said: "Pc Crow and Pc Thorne have been progressing an investigation into bike thefts which have occurred in Witham.

"They have been taking statements, viewing CCTV and gathering evidence.

"As a result, we have arrested an 18 year old man who is currently in custody and will be interviewed by our late shift.

"Pc Wheeler has also been called out to assist the search team with an operation in another part of the county.

"Pc Bailey has been working on obtaining a Criminal Behaviour Order on a person who is causing Anti-Social Behaviour.

"A Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) focuses on more serious offenders, who engage in criminal activity as well as anti-social behaviour.

"Failure to comply is a criminal offence and as such can result in imprisonment and/or a fine."
