YOUNG sports stars are celebrating a hat-trick of championship wins.
Pupils at Witham’s Howbridge Junior School came out on top in hockey, tag rugby and indoor athletics competitions against other local schools.
The school is now through to the North-West Essex finals in all three sports.
Headteacher Lisa Dale said: “The children here at Howbridge are amazing.
“They show such determination and commitment to sport and they just can’t help winning.
Howbridge received the Braintree District Sporting School of the Year title in 2019.
Mrs Dale said: “I have been impressed with the way my staff work so hard to prepare and support them for so many types of physical activity.
“Positive attitudes towards exercise is highly valued here and the winning is just a welcome bonus.”
Year Six team captain Ruby said: “The competition was really exciting. The racing was the best bit as everyone was cheering their team-mates on.
“We were really happy to win.”
