A MAN has appeared in court following an alleged stabbing in Braintree.

Police were called to a flat in High Street around 12.50am on Friday following reports a man had been attacked inside a property.

Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s had suffered serious injuries.

He was rushed to Broomfield Hospital by ambulance after receiving treatment from paramedics.

Connor Nye, 24, was eventually arrested and charged in connection with the incident after Essex Police launched an appeal to find him.

Nye, of Manor Street, Braintree, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Monday to answer four charges.

These were possessing a knife in a public place, possessing a broken bottle in a public place, GBH and attempted GBH.

The case was moved up to Chelmsford Crown Court by magistrates and Nye will next appear on Monday, February 3.

Nye, who is said to have links to Harlow and Grays, was remanded in custody following Monday’s hearing.

Essex Police have meanwhile confirmed three other people were arrested in connection with Friday’s incident.

A 34-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have since been released under investigation in connection with assisting an offender.

A 41-year-old man who was arrested for the same reason has meanwhile been released on bail until January 30.
