THIEVES who raided a cafe have stolen £600 in cash.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after a safe with around £600 in cash was stolen from the Old Smithy in Godshill on the Isle of Wight.

The break-in took place between 12.10am and 12.40am on Sunday.

The theives entered the café through a rear window and took the safe.

Officers have now launched an investigation.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in this area at the time to get in touch.

"Were you walking or driving through this area at the time? Do you remember seeing anything out of the ordinary?
