A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing attack in Chickerell, near Weymouth.
The police NPAS helicopter was called to the search after a man was stabbed at School Close this evening.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police recieved a report at 5.01pm today that a man had sustained a stabbing injury at School Close in Chickerell.
"The injured man is reported to have been stabbed by man who then left the scene in the company of a woman.
"The woman is also believed to have assaulted a member of the public who came to the injured man's assistance.
"Officers attended and carried out a search of the area.
"The woman was located and is reported to have been in posession of a knife.
"She was arrested on suspicion of being in posession of a knife or bladed article and assault occasioning actual boldily harm.
"Following searches a man was located in the area and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and further offences.
"The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening."
