Coastguard rush to mystery flares seen in the River Itchen
COASTGUARD teams rushed to multiple distress flares seen in a Southampton river last night.
Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team and Hamble Lifeboat rushed to the River Itchen last night after a number of red distress flares were seen.
A search was carried out by coastguard officers and the lifeboat team but no one was found in distress.
After confirming that there was no one in distress the teams stood down.
