AN ANIMAL shelter is asking for donations in an effort to keep its dogs warm over the winter period.

Danaher Animal Home’s Cozy Coat Campaign is asking for pooch lovers to donate any spare dog coats they may have lying around the house.

The home, which is based in Wethersfield, says there is a particular need for large dog coats.

Chief exec Deborah Satchell said: “We want to keep all our animals as warm and dry as possible, but of course they all need exercise and that’s why we’re appealing for donations of dog coats to beat the winter weather out on their walks.

“We currently have a number of bigger dogs looking for new homes, including lurchers and German Shepherds, as well as some cross-breeds, and we’re running short of larger coats to keep the cold and rain at bay.”

Coat donations can be made at any of Danaher’s charity shops, including the ones in Fairfield Road, Braintree or Newland Street, Witham.

Danaher will host its annual Toys ‘n’ Treats Christmas event on Sunday, December 8.

The day will see a range of fun activities held at the home to raise cash.
