I would like to comment on the remarks that councillor David Mann has made and those of the public with regard to EE installing not only a temporary mast but the proposed application that EE put in to Braintree Council (Times, November 7).
It is all very well for our councillor to support the rejection of the mast.
But little does he, or anyone else for that matter, realise the
college receives a substantial income for the rental of the space the mast and its current equipment take up.
Without that income and without the mobile phone mast, there
are two things that must be considered.
These are the reduction in area coverage of a mobile phone signal and the reduction of or even cuts in services and education the college provides.
The members of public, Cllr Mann and those members of the planning department obviously enjoy destroying a mobile phone service, which a very large amount of people use not only for basic communication but for data services such as text and access to the internet.
I would strongly advise those who have just stuck their oar in without any thought or consideration to reconsider.
