Braintree Council scoops up 39 awards for green spaces

The council took home an impressive 39 awards for the district’s parks and green spaces at The Essex Playing Field Association Awards.

Braintree councillor Wendy Schmitt, responsible for environment and place, said she was very proud of her colleagues.

She said: “This is again another great achievement that demonstrates the high standard and quality of our playing fields, which is a credit to our staff who maintain them.”

The awards including 14 gold, ten silver and 15 merit certificates, all recognising the staff’s efforts and hard work in maintaining the playing fields across the district.

Councillor Angela Kilmartin said: “I was more than pleased to represent Braintree Council at the awards and to see the standard and quality of our open spaces being recognised.”

Essex Playing Fields Association is a charity which has been protecting and maintaining playing fields and sports grounds since 1924.
