A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a flat fire left a person homeless.
Firefighters were called by a neighbour to the fire in Witham on Sunday night (October 20).
Emergency services rushed to King Edward Way on the Hatfield Road estate following reports of a fire in a second floor flat at 11.40pm.
The incident occured at a block of flats close to the junction with Allectus Way.
The fire was extinguished around 1am.
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed that one person was treated by paramedics and that an arrest had been made.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in custody.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.
