A NATIONALLY acclaimed tribute band which recreates iconic disco hits is heading to Bocking Arts Theatre for the very first time.

The venue, in Bocking End, is welcoming Uncle Funk and The Boogie Wonderband on Friday, November 1, for a show which promises to extend the Halloween festivities by an extra day.

The audience is invited to take part in a spooky fancy dress and singalong throughout the show, which features hits from the likes of Chic, KC and the Sunshine Band, Sister Sledge, the Bee Gees, Earth Wind And Fire, the Jacksons, Rose Royce, Kool and the Gang, and many more.

With recent headline slots at Glastonbury Festival and Standon Calling, as well as a host of other European festivals and public events, Uncle Funk and the Boogie Wonderband are viewed by some as the UK’s number one disco tribute show.

Comprised of an eight-piece band of musicians, who have performed with superstars such as Amy Winehouse, Take That, the Jacksons and Kylie Minogue, Uncle Funk and the Boogie Wonderband’s flamboyant shows are renowned for their stunning vocals, impeccable musicianship and slick choreography.

Co-lead vocalist Simonella Funkenfurta, whose Lycra-clad derriere is said to be popular enough to have its own social media account, said: “There’s so much love in the air at our shows that baby booms usually occur nine months afterwards!

“With that in mind, for our first ever show at the Bocking Arts Theatre we’ll be advising the audience to dance responsibly.”

Guitarist Flash Jackson added: “What people see happening on the stage is the culmination of years of a constantly developing show; the set list is truly ‘all killer, no filler’, which makes for one big audience singalong.

“All of our stage outfits have been handmade to our own designs, while the show’s choreography and retina-burning light show has naturally evolved to become an integral part of our concerts.”

Tickets cost £15 and are available from www.festooneventsltd.co.uk

The show starts at 8pm.
