A developer is seeking to add an extra four homes to a proposed housing estate.
Bellway Homes is asking for planning permission to build 50 homes off Bury Lane, Hatfield Peverel.
The house builder was granted outline planning permission in April last year to demolish a farm building and four homes on the site before building 46 new houses.
But Bellway is now hope to add an extra four homes to the proposals, arguing they will replace the existing houses which are set to be knocked down.
A total of 18 of the new homes will be allocated as affordable and the developer says the scheme has been designed to create a newly defined rural edge to the village.
A new village green will also be created during the construction phase.
Braintree Council will have the final say on the blueprints.
