A rising star has made the regional final of the Open Mic UK singing competition.

12-year-old Mia Mcintyre, from Braintree auditioned at Hampton Sport and Leisure Centre on Sunday September 22 in front of three industry judges.

Open Mic UK is the biggest search for unsigned talent in the UK. Auditions are held all over the country every year in search for the country’s best singer and songwriters.

Acts who have competed have been signed but major record labels such as Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group.

Mia, who attends Tabor Academy will compete in the regional final in the hope of making her way to the National Final at the O2 Arena in London.

She said: “This is the first singing competition I have ever entered and to get through to the Regional Finals is amazing and something I really didn’t expect.

“I’m really excited, I’m going to try my best and fingers crossed I get through to the National Finals.”

Mia will compete in the regional finals on October 20.
