We had our fair share of heatwaves this summer with record high temperatures, but recent wind and rain confirmed that summer is well and truly over.
The Met Office has suggested we will see an ‘Indian summer’ this weekend, with temperatures of up to 21C, but it is likely to be short lived.
Heavy rain is set to come in the following weeks, with the risk of flooding to follow.
Braintree (CM7) was listed as one of the areas at risk of surface flooding from Essex County Council.
Particularly the areas around the village of Bocking and the areas surrounding the River Blackwater and River Mead.
Two small areas of Witham were also listed as being at particular risk, to the North of the town by Tarecroft Wood and to the South-West of the town centre.
Essex was one of the areas announced to have extra funding granted for flood defences by the government earlier this week.
The funds will go towards preparing the country for flooding and reducing the damage when large storms take place.
