A DRINK driver who was more than twice the legal limit has been disqualified from driving.
Christopher Wright, 43, of World's End Lane, Feering, admitted the charge of drink driving at Colchester Magistrates Court yesterday.
The court heard Wright crashed a Ford Focus in Feering Hill while above the legal alcohol limit on July 6.
A roadside breath test showed Wright had 59 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 35.
He was taken to Colchester Hospital before being taken to the police station.
Rima Begum, prosecuting, said a police check also revealed Wright was not insured to drive the car.
Wright, representing himself in court, said: "I am sorry about what happened and feel ashamed.
"I have been going through a difficult time and was recently separated from my wife.
"It is not something I am proud of."
Wright has been disqualified from driving for 14 months and was fined a total of £490.
