LOVERS of all things vintage will be in their element this weekend when a fundraising festival paying homage to the good old days comes to Pebmarsh.

A Bit Of A Do was founded in 2016 by serial collector and event organiser Mike Barnes, along with a group of friends who all have a passion for retro vehicles and objects.

After being inspired by the many vintages rallies they have attended in the past, Mike and his band of tradition-loving pals decided to stage their own fair, displaying the hordes of interesting and old-time items they had each acquired over times.

As a result, the small but unique A Bit of A Do event was born, teleporting visitors back in time and raising money for the village youth club and the village hall.

Mr Barnes said: “I have collected things for many years, whether that be tractors or bits and pieces.

“I have just always liked and been fascinated by the engineering of early times because it’s so simply but very precise.

“The problem is you buy one item and then you see another you like, and before you know it you are collecting things.

“I do collect everything vintage – it’s an illness!”

The event features a whole host of age-old items and products of engineering, such as steam engines, working tractors and classic cars, all exhibited in an informal style at Pebmarsh football ground

Old farms tools, vintage laundry and nursery utilities, and tents featuring Second World War memorabilia will also be on display and an open-top bus will be on hand to provide free tours around the village.

If it rains, a red London bus will instead take on transport duties.

A Bit Of A Do takes place this Saturday and Sunday at Pebmarsh Football Ground from 10am until 5pm. Admission is free.
