RESIDENTS have voted in favour of plans to allocate specific parts of a village for housing.

A total of 77 people voted in favour of the Bradwell and Pattiswick Neighbourhood Plan, with six voting against it.

Residents were able to vote on the proposals during a referendum which was held towards the end of June.

Turnout for the referendum was just under 19 per cent.

The Neighbourhood Plan has been worked on by parish councillors and community volunteers over the last three years and has been endorsed by an independent examiner.

Having now passed through the referendum phase and secured more than the 50 per cent support needed, the plan will then be confirmed within an eight-week period and will have to be considered when Braintree Council rules on any planning applications put forward for Bradwell or Pattiswick.
