I WAS shocked to read of how Greenfields Community Housing has ordered a couple to remove fencing they installed to prevent their two-year-old daughter from running in the road in order to replace it with railings (Times, June 27).

The only reason given for this was it will be “in keeping with the railings at the front of the property”.

When Greenfields was established in 2007 it promised to put tenants at the heart of the organisation and we are told that Greenfields wants tenants to “take ownership of their environment”.

The draconian attitude against this young couple goes completely against the ethos of a community gateway housing association and the persons responsible should be sacked.

Editor’s note: Greenfields said the fence was removed because it was on communal land.
