AN ANNUAL cricket match which aims to "build bridges" between religions and the community will take place this Sunday.

The Al Falah Braintree Islamic Centre will be taking on Christ Church Braintree in the Inter Faith friendly match at Braintree Cricket Club, Bocking End.

Held each year, the event is organised by the Braintree District Interfaith Forum in an attempt to improve relations between religions throughout the district.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the match and watch from the boundary.

Some seating will be provided but watchers are welcome to bring their own.

A spokesman for the Islamic centre said: "We would love to have spectators comings to support.

"It’s an event where we hope to build bridges between different communities of Braintree. It will be an opportunity for both congregations and general public to meet and discuss.

"There will be food and children’s grades on as well."

The match gets underway from 2.30pm and final presentations will take place around 6pm.
