A GOLF day organised by recruitment experts raised more than £12,000 for an Alzheimer’s charity.

Witham’s Prime Appointments took its total amount raised for the Alzheimer’s Society this year past the £19,000 mark with the event.

The company is raising awareness and fighting back against the disease, which its co-founder Margaret Locke was diagnosed with 11 years ago.

Her husband David was at the golf day at Colchester Golf Club and said he was “very touched” to see the amount raised for the charity.

It is the second fundraising event the company has organised this year and it means it has now smashed its target of £10,000 which it wanted to raise before September 21.

A spokesman said: “After months of organising the event, the team couldn’t be happier with the success of the day.

“The highlight of the day was without a doubt the auction, where attendees all fought to outbid each other for prizes donated by our valued clients and friends.”

All funds raised by the company will be used within the Witham area.
