A NEW pair of head students have been appointed at New Rickstones Academy.
Emma Brock and Dylan Jaques will lead a team of eight senior prefects when they move into Year 11 in September.
They went through an interview process where they explained how they would make a difference to the Witham school before being chosen.
Emma said: "The responsibility the role brings is good as I’ve never had anything like that before. I wanted to have that responsibility and to represent the school.
"I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people."
Dylan said: "I wanted to be head student as it is something we aspire to be at New Rickstones and will help me in later life. I can take responsibility and act as a role model to others.
"I feel I am able to juggle my upcoming GCSEs with this role as I’m in good habits already with the revision clubs offered at New Rickstones.
"I am definitely enjoying it so far."
Head Damian Lee said: "All of the students equipped themselves remarkably well throughout the process. It was a really tough decision to make, especially as so many candidates had shown over their time at the academy just how proud they were to be part of New Rickstones.
"Ultimately, it came down to those who we felt had interviewed the strongest and were able to balance their school work with the added leadership responsibilities."
