A PERFORMING arts group has won a business award for health and welfare.

Frederick Douglas Performing Arts, which is based in Halstead and covers the Braintree district, scooped the Health and Welfare Family Business of the Year award 2019.

It offers musical movement sessions to care homes for the elderly, adults with learning difficulties and a children’s performing arts academy at weekends.

Owner Deborah Marks said: “We are honoured to receive an award like this that recognises not just the success of our business but the most important element of our business - family.”

Family Business United founder Paul Andrews said: “This may have been a bit of a surprise to our winners but health and welfare is what they do. They are great advocates of a healthy lifestyle and encourage others to follow their lead.

“It’s a privilege to organise these awards and to find out more about the fantastic people behind the family. Frederick Douglas Performing Arts is one such - a great family business and one that makes a real difference to people’s lives.”
