A MAN who used a stolen debit card to buy alcohol and cigarettes has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Graham Nash, 37, admitted to one charge of theft and three counts of fraud when appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates Court.

Nash, of Penn Mews, Braintree, stole the debit card in Witham on February 3 earlier this year.

He then used it to buy alcohol and cigarettes on the same day.

Magistrates ordered Nash to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work within a 12-month period.

He was also made to pay costs of £268, including £98.06 in compensation.
