A trio of new businesses will be joining dozens of regular traders at this weekend's Braintree street market.

The increasingly popular showpiece has been made a monthly event by the district council following a successful trial last year.

Traders typically line the streets of Market Place and High Street filled with an abundance of stalls all offering a variety of food, drink and gifts.

This month's edition, which will take place on Saturday, will see three new traders join dozens of regulars, while there will also be a return of a shopper's favourite.

The traders are:

• Goat in a Soap - moisturising soaps in a variety of scents made with 100% raw goats milk, natural oils and shea butter

• Emjens Candles - soy wax candles and melts - all vegan friendly, paraben free and cruelty free

• Piperoni Pizza Company – authentic Neapolitan Pizza, hand stretched to order, cooked in a woodfired oven

• Mollie Makes Things - ceramic handmade items, along with some beautiful cards and tote bags (returning after missing March's market)

Though there will be a host of regular traders returning, several have announced they will not be attending this month's market.

These include:

  • Mac St Kitchen
  • Dog Owners Gift Store
  • Pimento Jerk
  • Mex Appeal
  • Ruddymarvellous

The full list of traders heading to the town centre to take part in the event can be found on the Braintree Council website.

The street market gets underway from 7.30am on Saturday and runs until 3.30pm. Entry is free.

5-star reviews

With the event seemingly growing each week, traders and customers alike have been giving the street market top marks on popular travel website, Trip Advisor.

All four reviewers who have left their thoughts on the market have given it a five-star rating and praised both the atmosphere and selection of items on offer.

One reviewer wrote: "One of the best markets I have visited in recent years.

A good mixture of old fashioned market stalls with wool, material etc., combined with modern, quirkier stalls. Fantastic selection of food stalls with excellent and imaginative dishes.

"There is something for everyone here."

Another reviewer added: "The Braintree Street Market is a fantastic day out for everyone.

"There are some amazing food trucks and places to drink that offer local beers and ales. Some amazing arts and crafts stalls and even live music.

"And more importantly there is a great atmosphere and buzz in Braintree on their Street Market days. Long may it last."
