AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a cyclist was injured in a hit and run.

Essex Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward after the incident, which happened in Witham yesterday (Wednesday, April 10) morning.

A spokesman said: "It was reported that around 7.40am, a cyclist was travelling along Cressing Road towards the train station, when a small black car pulled out of Cypress Road and collided with the cyclist.

"The driver did not stop following the collision.

"The cyclist was treated for minor injuries."

Anyone who saw or has dash cam footage of the collision is asked to contact PC Thomas Kisby at Chelmsford police station on 101, quoting 172 of April 10.
