SPECIAL Constables could soon be patrolling the streets of Gosfield, as Essex Police are now seeking officers for the village.

After being given the green light in December last year, the parish council is keen to fund volunteer officers to be on patrol 26 hours a month to provide more visible policing.

Officers will be integrated into a community policing team to patrol crime hot spots in the area.

Gosfield Parish Council is setting aside £1,000 to cover the cost of the scheme.

Essex Police are also expected to be funding 58 more police constables across the county, including in Braintree, Witham and Chelmsford.

Applications are now open for budding specials in Gosfield.
