SOME homes have been flooded after a water main burst and flooded Cressing Road, in Braintree, this morning. (Tuesday, March 19).

The road was completely flooded between Stubbs Lane and Beckers Green Road after a pip burst at around 8.45am.

The stretch of road is expected to be shut for ten days while repair work is carried out to the road surface and pavement.

The burst main also meant some residents were left without water or had low pressure for the second time in two days.

Yesterday, a broken pump meant homes and businesses in Braintree had similar water supply issues.

A spokesman for Anglian Water said: “Our teams are currently working to repair a burst water main on Cressing Road in Braintree.

"A team was quickly on site and ensured that homes had their water restored almost immediately, but unfortunately a small number of nearby homes have been flooded.

“We’re really sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, our teams are already on site helping the residents that have been affected and a clean up is underway.

"We know how upsetting flooding can be and we’ll foot the bill for any damage caused and work to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.

“We’ve moved water around our network to return all customer supplies to normal but due to the nature of the burst, a full road closure is currently in place to allow our teams to make the repairs as quickly, and as safely, as possible.

“We also had a brief power outage yesterday at our Panfield pumping station which may have resulted in low water pressure for some customers in the wider area.

"However, our teams swiftly attended and restored power by 10am, returning customers water supply back to normal.”
