I SHOULD like to thank Graham Butland, leader of Braintree Council, for informing me of the latest rise in council tax.

I ask for what? For the council to waste taxpayers' money on a revamped Manor Street development.

Who are these so-called visitors who would stay in a hotel in Braintree to view a run down town with rubbish and no real infrastructure to view.

A doctors’ surgery on the second floor, great for our disabled people.

A bus park with no room for buses to turnaround in a safe manner.

Another planning decision passed with no real thought, with taxpayers' views on planning ignored yet again, with an increase in tax for a non existent police force, potholes in roads, dangerous pavements with no adequate street lighting.

And to frustrate us more the council is asking us to vote for it in May after so much waste of taxpayers' money.

If we voters don’t like the result we can always ask for another vote!
