MILLIONS of pounds have been saved by residents through the Essex Energy Switch.

The annual Essex County Council campaign is designed to help people save on their gas and electricity bills.

Since the scheme launched in 2014, more than 15,000 people have saved an average of £230 per household on their energy bills – more than £3.5million overall.

Registration for the Essex Energy Switch is free and once registered, there is no obligation to switch providers. The deadline for registering is February 12.

Simon Walsh, Essex county councillor responsible for environment, is encouraging more people to take advantage of the offer.

He said: “The more people who register, the bigger the potential benefit.

“The initiative is great if you’re busy and don’t have time to hunt around for the best offer.”

Small and medium-sized businesses can also register for the initiative through the bespoke business bureau service.
