An estimated 320 jobs look set to be created at a business park.

Nexus Infrastructure’s plans to build a new three-storey office building at Skyline 120, Great Notley, have been given the thumbs-up by Braintree Council planning officers ahead of a crunch meeting on Tuesday when councillors will make the final decision on the application.

The scheme will see a large building put up in a meadow area off Seybourne Park, along with a new car park for up to 266 vehicles.

There will also be spaces created for motorcycles and bicycles.

The site will be accessed via Avenue East, linking it to the rest of the Skyline 120 Business Park and other roads leading to the A120 and A131.

In its planning statement, Nexus Infrastructure, which runs smaller businesses like Tamdown, Triconnex and ESmart Networks, says it needs to build the new offices because its existing site on Springwood Industrial Estate is too small to accommodate further growth.

The firm says it wants to remain true to its past by staying in the town and believes its proposals for the site are appropriate as the land has already been earmarked for employment.

No objections have been raised to the proposals, and Braintree Council planning development boss Christopher Paggi has recommended councillors grant planning permission to Nexus Infrastructure.

In a report sent out to planning committee members, he said: “The development will retain and enable the expansion of the company which is a key employer within the district.

“Weight is given to the economic benefits of the development and the employment of 320 staff.

“The layout and scale of the development is in keeping with adjoining sites, and the detailed design and appearance and strengthening of landscaping across the site would result in a high quality development that would positively enhance the character and appearance of the locality.”

If the plans are approved, Nexus Infrastructure would be required to make a £36,796 contribution towards an off-site park.

Existing companies already based at Skyline 120 business park include the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Carillion Energy Services and international logistics firm Delamode’s headquarters.
