A PETROL station car park could be made bigger to make room for electric car charging points.

The owners of the BP Bradwell Service Station, which is on the A120, want to create ten new spaces, three of which would offer charging.

In May 2018, a similar bid for 13 new spaces was refused by Braintree Council but an appeal was lodged against that decision and is ongoing.

It was denied over fears it "would remove an area of land which forms an intrinsic landscape buffer between the petrol station and the Blackwater Valley beyond."

The new planning statement reads: "The reason for the application is to address the parking problem and to improve forecourt safety for motorists

and pedestrians.

"There is a significant gap in publicly accessible EV charging provision that the proposed development will fill."
