MORE than 30 residents came together on Christmas Day to enjoy a festive meal together.
A group of volunteers served festive meals to 34 guests at Rivenhall Village Hall who would otherwise have spent the day alone.
Groups such as the Rivenrascals youth club, Riventots Pre-school and Rivenhall School had been raising cash to contribute towards the meal since January last year.
The money ensured all guests received a present and cracker as well as a delicious meal prepared by the Western Arms restaurant, in Witham.
Following the meal, the guests enjoyed sharing conversation and got stuck into some Christmas Day games.
Michelle Garrad-Knott, of the Rivenhall Playing Fields Association, said: "It was so lovely to see everyone come together and share Christmas, the atmosphere was how Christmas should be and it gave the children the opportunity to appreciate that it is about giving and not just receiving."
