A TALENTED five-year-old is celebrating after winning a competition which got children to design a house of the future.

Emma Jackson-Smith, who is from Witham, included a slide in the house in her design which captured the imaginations of the competition judges.

The Chipping Hill Primary School youngster scooped a £500 from developer Redrow Eastern which launched its hunt for ‘archi-tots’ back in October.

She could also see her design used during a future phase of building at The Mulberries - a development Redrow is currently building in Witham.

Emma said: "I can’t believe I won the competition! I love drawing and inventing new things, I’m glad my house was chosen as the winner."

As well as her prize, her school will also receive artwork vouchers to encourage all her classmates to get creative.

Kerry McCoubrey, sales director, said: "It was great fun looking at all the aspiring architects’ submissions and we were very impressed with Emma’s submission.

"Her eye-catching design really stood out amongst the rest and would be a quick way to get out of the door for school and work in the morning."
