HUNDREDS of residents went along to an information fair which saw more than 40 organisations on hand to offer advice.

It had been organised by Witham MP Priti Patel and saw groups from Essex Police to the Witham Town Luncheon Club take part.

Cash was also being raised through donations for teas and cakes for the Witham branch of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal at the event at the Witham Public Hall.

Ms Patel said: "Witham is a thriving local community and there are so many fantastic clubs, groups and organisations in our area providing services and activities.

"It was great to meet so many people at the fair and to see residents able to access information and advice.

"The fair has brought the local community together and I am pleased to see that residents attending have been able to join local clubs and groups.

"I am also very grateful to everyone who supported the event and to those organisations who came along."
