A VILLAGE war memorial has been refurbished ahead of services to mark the centenary since the end of the First World War.

The Cressing site has been given the facelift ahead of a service to mark 100 years since the end of the war will take place on Sunday at 10.50am.

It was funded by cash from the parish council and the Essex branch of The Western Front Association and shows the name of the 20 men from the village killed in both world wars.

Funds were also raised for the revamp at the Temple at War event which took place at Cressing Temple earlier this year.

Peter Sutton said: "Thanks to all who gave their time to clear the area around the memorial and improve the access.

"Also we would like to thank the developers and the council who have agreed to name the roads after these young men on the new estate at Tye Green."
