A PRIMARY school is applying for permission to build a brand new all-weather playground.
Kelvedon St Mary's, in Docwra Road, want to build the artificial grass area for use at break and lunchtimes and for P.E. lessons.
In a bid submitted to Braintree Council it says the new 720 square metre sized area will not be hired to third parties or have floodlighting and will only be used during school hours and club hours.
In the proposal the school says it wants to build the facility "at a time when childhood obesity is becoming more and more of a serious national health issue."
