AN aquatic teacher will be raising vital funds for nurses who support patients with terminal illnesses as part of a global effort.

Sarah Windibank, an aqua presenter from Witham, will be taking part in the Worldwide Aquathon memory of friend Karen Stokoe who lost her battle against a brain tumour in 2017.

Before her death Karen had been a huge fan of Sarah's classes and would attend as many as she possibly could.

Sarah said: "I am really looking forward to this event as it not only raises money but also awareness for such important causes.

"Karen was a dear friend who bought light and humour into everyone’s life that she met - I want to help keep Karen’s memory alive."

Marie Curie nurses offer free nursing care to people with all terminal illnesses across the UK, as well as support for family and friends.

The nurses often provide one-to-one nursing care and support overnight at the person’s home, usually for eight or nine hours.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 10 and will involve three hours of hard core water exercises such as zumba, hiit and more.

As well as raising cash for Marie Curie nurses, it will also be held to support Addenbrooke's Hospital children's ward.

It will be held at Braintree Swim and Fitness Centre from 12.30pm and tickets costing £10 are available by calling 07939 631240.
