AN air cadet is celebrating after he was awarded with a special prize for his commitment to sport.

Milo Edwards, from Braintree, picked-up the Regional Commandants Sports Cadet of the Year award at an event at RAF Northolt in London at the weekend.

The 17-year-old has a cadet with the 158 Braintree Squadron Air Cadets since the age of 13.

He won two gold medals at Essex Wing Athletics Competition earlier this year and went on to take represent the home counties at the national finals.

The youngster has also been part of cadet football and rugby teams for the county which have made it to national finals.

Colin Johnson RAFAC, of 158 Braintree & District Squadron, said: "I have known Milo since he first joined us, he is a great sports person, he is a team player in all aspects of physical activities, he has passed exams as a football referee and I'm sure will go on to have a long sporting career.

"Well done Milo you are a credit to yourself, your parents and the air cadets."
