A thug wielding a meat cleaver and another knife threatened someone during a broad daylight incident in Braintree.

The 40-year-old victim was getting into a van in Connaught Gardens, Braintree, at around 9.10am on Sunday, September 16, when a dark grey Audi drove past at speed.

He followed the car in his van into Edinburgh Way and challenged the driver over his speed.

The driver of the Audi got out and ran towards the victim with a knife and meat cleaver in his hand.

He hit the van’s passenger door frame with the cleaver before the victim managed to drive off.

Luckily, he was unharmed.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 20s or 30s and between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “He had dark brown hair which was longer on the top, very pale skin and brown eyes.

“He was wearing a blue zipped Adidas top with white stripes down the arms and dark jeans or jogging bottoms.

“He had a dog in the Audi, which was described as being the size of a Labrador and had a dark, sandy coloured coat.

No verbal threats were made during the altercation.
