AN arty youngster could win £3,000 and see her very own pen design put into production after being named as a finalist in a competition.
Alice Tyler, of Braintree, entered BIC's Design and Shine competition earlier this summer and it is down to a public vote to decide who wins.
The scheme invites anyone over the age of 13 in the UK and Ireland to come up with a new design for the stationery company's well known four colour pen.
The 15-year-old said: "I absolutely love art and making things, as well as animals and nature.
"I wanted to combine these two hobbies into my design, which is a colourful take on honeycomb.
"I was over the moon to be shortlisted and will be asking all my friends and family to spread the word on social media."
Voters only have until Sunday, September 9, to chose their winner.
Phil Corbett, an illustrator who was on the judging panel, said: "Alice has utilised the pen design software to create an artistic, clean and stylish design, with the colourful hexagons tessellating perfectly on the barrel.
"The design is simple and effective.
"We wish Alice the best of luck in the public vote, which closes on September 9."
The winner will be announced on September 10 and the winning design go on sale online later this year.
