A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and resisting arrest after police were called to an address in Silver End.
Residents reported seeing a number of police cars in School Road in the very early hours of this morning.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We arrested a man on suspicion of assault and resisting arrested in School Road, Silver End, at around 12.25am today, Thursday, September 6.
"We received reports that a woman was pushed by a man inside a property.
"We attended and our officer reported that the man resisted arrest."
Anyone with information is asked to call Chelmsford police station on 101.
