Trains travelling towards London have been cancelled after a signalling fault at Witham.
The lines heading towards the capital are now open after trains were forced to run at reduced speeds as a result of the problem.
Some services were cancelled while others were delayed by up to 15 minutes.
Disruption is expected until 10am this morning.
Platform one at Witham is also out of use due to a broken down train.
