FRINTON B have given themselves a good chance of gaining promotion from Stringers World Colchester and District Tennis League division two.

A 9-0 defeat of the Officer's Club C, followed by a 6-3 win at Wivenhoe B which ended any chance they had of promotion, has put them in pole position.

Division three is very tight but Lexden Hill's 5-4 victory over West Mersea keeps them top.

David Lloyd A have dominated division four but Spring Lane C's Will Brown and Gus Pattinson won a tie break in their side's 8-1 defeat to claim the only set that David Lloyd A have dropped.

Frinton A lead the Ladies premier division with only the match against closest rivals, The Essex A left to play.

With the Essex gaining maximum points against Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club B, Frinton needed to beat Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club A by as many points as possible.

But a 5½-3½ victory means their lead is only 1½ points, going into the final match.

The Essex B finished any hope Dedham A had of promotion to the premier division when they beat them 6-3.

The Essex C moved top of division two with an 8-1 victory over Spring Lane A and in division three, Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club C moved to within a point of The Essex D after beating The Officer's Club B, 8-1.

The Essex A have won the Mixed premier division for the 14th consecutive season.

But they were pushed all the way by Frinton A until defeating them 6-3, to end their hopes.
